I’m obsessed with trail mix…like, for real. I almost ALWAYS have a big bag of it at home…and it’s almost always homemade. A lot of trail mix is packed with fat and added sugars but when you make it homemade, the best thing is…you are in charge of what goes in it! So this is what went in mine last time and it was one of my favorite combos I’ve ever made! I posted a picture of it on my Instagram and Facebook pages and I got a few requests for the “recipe” so…here it is!
The World’s BEST Trail Mix
- 1 box Oatmeal Squares (yep, a WHOLE box!)
- 1 cup dried blueberries
- 1 cup dark chocolate covered craisins
- 1.5 cups cashews
- 1.5 cups roasted almonds
- 5 Sunrype fruit-to-go strips (cut into pieces – optional)
- Throw it all together in a large bag and shake, shake, shake to mix
- ENJOY! [You will, believe me 😉 ]
I love having trail mix handy as a snack because it’s so easy to take on-the-go with you! I take it to work with me all the time as an afternoon pick-me-up! Trail mix is awesome because it (can) be high in protein (nuts are packed with protein and HEALTHY fats), fiber (choose a WHOLE grain cereal) and the fat, protein and fiber make it super filling. It can be pretty high in calories so I like to portion mine out so I don’t just mindlessly munch. I hope ya’ll love this as much as I did!
