Stonyfield recently offered to send me some of their products to try and since I eat yogurt pretty much on the daily, I was super excited! They sent me some of their kid-friendly [hey, I’m a kid at heart! 😉 ] YoKids yogurt. The package came with 3 strawberry and 3 strawberry banana yogurts. Some of my favorite flavors, so I was thrilled.
Some fun facts about Stonyfield YoKids Yogurt:
- USDA organic
- Pasture raised
- Non GMO
- Kosher certified
- Gluten free
*I don’t eat only organic, non-GMO, gluten free, etc. but if these things are important to you…score!
Nutrition-wise this yogurt has…
- Calories: 70
- Fat: 1 g
- Saturated Fat: 0.5 g
- Sodium: 60 mg
- Potassium: 200 mg
- Total Carbs: 12 g
- Fiber: 0 g
- Sugars: 9 g
- Protein: 4 g
Pretty great nutrition if you ask me. They’re low in calories, low in fat and sodium, high in potassium and pretty low in sugar compared to most yogurts. They also have 4 grams of protein, which isn’t a huge amount, but it’s also not too bad. Way to go Stonyfield!
I’m not always one for eating yogurt plain…I like to ADD THINGS to it…or add it TO things. My first venture was to use it as a topping for my favorite Kodiak Cakes waffles with fresh fruit and…I added the Stonyfield strawberry yogurt. It was delicious. I loved how creamy and flavorful it was. The strawberry tasted delicious, I am a big fan. The other awesome thing about Stonyfield is that they recently revamped their products in order to reduce the sugar in them. YAY. A lot of yogurts, even the “healthy” ones are packed with so much sugar, that’s why I was excited to see that Stonyfield is aware of that and taking some action!
Recently Stonyfield announced that after years of research they have found a formula for their yogurts that reduces the tartness and balances the sweetness so that they can reduce the amount of sugar. They’re YoKids yogurt now has as much as 40% less sugar than man other leading brands of low-fat kids yogurts. They’re also working to reduce the amount of sugar by at least 25% in their Smooth & Creamy varieties and their lowfat Smoothies. And just look at all these options…
Stonyfield has SO many different types of products and I love that they offer variety in that they have low-fat, fat-free and whole milk products…something for everyone no matter what your goals are. It’s also pretty great that they offer different products for different stages of life (baby, toddler, kids, adult) and not only do they have yogurts but smoothies too!? Whaaa? Did you know that they even have frozen yogurts and milks and creams? They even make fruit snacks. Yeah! I didn’t know that either, until very recently. Another great thing…if you have kids, they make squeezable pouches so they’re perfect on-the-go, no-mess snacks for your kids, um…or yourself 😉 Stonyfield is a somewhat new company/product to me but it’s one I plan to start incorporating more into my diet because so far I’ve been very impressed by their taste, their nutrition and their company in general. So check them out for yourself on their website here and enjoy! PS you can find their products in many different stores (including Smith’s, Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, Sprouts, etc.) so you should be able to find them wherever you live!
