I love cheese. I mean really, who doesn’t? It’s just so dang delicious. I also love “weird cheeses”. Give me the smelly, funny looking, strong-flavored cheeses any day and I’m almost certain to love them. Cheese sometimes gets a bad rap as being not very healthy…and while this can be true…cheese isn’t all bad. In fact, cheese can be very good!
Cheese is a great source of protein and many vitamins and minerals (including calcium, B12 and zinc). It can be high in sodium and saturated fat…so watch your portion size but adding a little cheese to your diet for things like topping your salad or pairing with crackers or apple slices for a snack is a great option. This way you can get all the lovely benefits that cheese has to offer, without overdoing it.
I recently came across CHEVOO and I was immediately intrigued. “CHEVOO” is a combination of Chèvre and Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO). I’m a big fan of olive oil because it is rich in heart healthy monounsaturated fat, plus, it’s super tasty. Combining delicious cheese with heart healthy and tasty olive oil…WIN-WIN in my book.
CHEVOO is goat cheese. It’s made from the goat curd that is blended with spices, herbs, chilis, etc. and then paired with an extra virgin olive oil blend that has been infused with crushed botanicals making the flavor AMAZ-ING. They are gluten-free and vegetarian. The ingredients are sourced from local farms in Northern California. Which I love because I’m a big fan of supporting LOCAL food sources and companies!
CHOVOO comes in three flavors:
- Smoked Sea Salt & Rosemary
- California Pollen & Garlic
- Aleppo-Urfa Chili & Lemon
I’ve tried them all and they are all fantastic. My favorite way to eat them is on top of whole wheat toast with mashed avocado, CHEVOO and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. I’m telling you guys…life changing. They’d also be great on pizza, salads, grilled veggies or mixed into eggs/omelettes. The possibilities are endless. I’m telling you, the garlic one made me feel like I was in Italy…not sure why…haha, but something about garlic and goat cheese…I closed my eyes and felt like I was there (yes, it sounds ridiculous, but this actually happened…)
You can find out more about these awesome cheeses as well as where to buy them on the CHEVOO website. Another great thing…you can buy them online, and they’ll ship them right to you! They’re also sold in select stores. My advice, go get some/order some ASAP. You won’t regret it.
