Soooo another product review. Recently KIND sent me a variety of their bars to sample and review. I’ve had KIND bars a few times but I usually stick with my favorite flavor (Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt). It was great to try out so many different flavors! KIND has over 22 different flavors of nut bars! They also have Granola Clusters and Healthy Grains bars that are more like a typical “granola bar”. Overall I really like KIND bars. A lot. Why? Well…
KIND has a theory. Their theory is this: “If you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it shouldn’t go into your body.” I don’t know that I agree with this 100%…but probably like 98% 😉 I’m all about real whole foods whenever possible…like MOST of the time but an occasional indulgence of some food that maybe you can’t pronounce an ingredient or two…not the end of the world. Overall though, great theory! Especially for a bar that you are eating as a healthy snack. Kind bars are made with whole, real ingredients which IS awesome. They use whole nuts (protein), fruits (natural sugars and energizing carbs) and whole grains (fiber)…we’re 3 for 3!
Last weekend I went to St. George with a friend and we headed over to Zion’s for the day to hike. We needed some quick, easy and energizing snacks…so of course I brought along a few of my KIND bars. They were the perfect snack to tide us over while hiking and boost our energy. At the top of Angels Landing (if you haven’t done this hike…do it! It’s awesome) we munched on some Dark Chocolate Mocha Almond bars. I’m not always a fan of Mocha flavored things but these were delish. The mocha just gave them a slight nutty flavor. Super yummy.
So, nutritionally…the hardest thing with these bars is that they vary A LOT in their nutrition… That’s why you should, what? CHECK THE LABEL. Always. KIND bars provide a typical amount of calories for a granola/protein bar, anywhere from ~150-210 calories; however, the amount of saturated fat and sugar varies a lot. Some of their bars only have 1.5 grams of fat and as low as 4 grams of sugar…but some of them have as much as 5 grams of saturated fat and 13 grams of sugar (that’ a lot of sugar for one bar). So just choose wisely, I’ve noticed lately that more of their bars have only 4-6 grams of sugar so that’s pretty great. Plus these are super tasty and I feel like they’re unique from other bars in that they are mostly just nuts with added goodness, like chocolate, pb and coconut.ON AVERAGE

So bottom line here…KIND bars are a great healthy snack. Now, they’re not super high in protein (as compared to most other “protein bars”) so I wouldn’t count on them as a big protein addition in your diet and they can be pretty high in sugar…but if you choose the right ones…I’d say the ones with <5 grams of sugar per bar (a helpful tip when picking products like protein bars…look at the label and see if it has less sugar then protein…if it does…it’s a pretty good option!) these bars can be a great healthy snack that will provide you with fiber and healthy fats, they’ll keep you full and sustain you until your next meal and they’ll curb sweet tooth! KIND for the win!
