A lot of machines will “track your calories and heart rate” during your workout. Right? Wrong. Those machines are usually no where near accurate in tracking the amount of calories you’re burning. Sometimes machines will ask for your weight and age, which helps but still…usually not very accurate.
I’ve mentioned before that working out should not be able burning a certain number of calories but I do enjoy knowing what my heart rate is and what “training zone” I’m in. I have been hearing about polar watches, and other watches for a while and finally decided to get one and try it out. Well…ask for one.
Merry Christmas to me.
Anyways. It’s been a fun addition to my workouts. The calorie count is an added bonus if you are tracking calories and trying to lost weight. We all have to do what works for us!
I started with an FT4 watch but had quite a bit of difficulty with it. It would often lose my heart rate and didn’t work very well. I shipped it back and spent a little more (only $10) on an FT7. So far, so good. It works great and I’m a huge fan. For me, it’s just a nice way to track my workouts and of course, look super cool… I’m sure it’s not always 100% accurate but it’s definitely better than a workout machine. So if you’re in the market for some type of workout watch I’d highly recommend the polar FT7. I’ve also heard good things about Nike FeulBand but haven’t tried it for myself.
